NO GAMES JULY 1ST
HAPPY CANADA DAY
Trade News - Silver Bullets trade Deon Notorandrea to White Lightning for Merrit Crumback.
Green Blazers 4 All Blacks 3 - This was a defensive game from opening face-off to the final horn of the second half. Black would open up a 3 goal lead and look to continue to add to it but Dan Dimeo was stellar on this night and made big saves when Green needed them. Aaron Hill was equally solid for Black and would have a shutout until 10:36 of the 2nd half when Dave Norman would score for Green making the game 3-1. Looking to shift the momentum the All Blacks would call a timeout to gain some rest as the heat was incredible on this night. After the timeout Green would continue where they left off and score two more to tie the game at 3. The last 8 minutes would be played with each team waiting for the other to make a mistake. At the two minute mark a flukey bounce off the end boards would find its way onto Ben Guest stick and under the pads of goaltender Aaron Hill. 4-3 with less than 2 minutes to go and the All Blacks through everything they had at goalie Dan Dimeo. He stayed solid and the Green Blazers split the season series with the All Blacks. Top players in this game were Brandon Jacusiw and Ben Guest each with 2G and 1A.
White Lightning 13 Orangemen 8 - Without their captain in the line-up the Orangemen battled from start to finish. The Orangemen would go up by 1 goal with 5 minutes left but as we all know 5 minutes is a ton of time when it comes to roller hockey and 4 on 4 action. Darryl Dempsey and Norm Girardeau had their own battle going in this game as the two goalies would make big saves but still the teams would exchange a ton of goals. As the clock wound down the Lightning decided to settle in and play some solid hockey which would turn out to be the difference as they scored 5 times in the final 3 minutes. Top players in the game were Mike Kipp 4G 2A and Darryl Shannon 3A for the Orangemen. Mike Read (5G 3A), Aaron Plant (2G 5A), Shawn Ogborne (3G 1A) and Clayton Chalmers (3G) all had big games for White.
Gold Rush 8 Silver Bullets 4 - Silver continues to look for ways to win each night but had their hands full against Gold who shares top spot in the league with Green. Gold had new tender Mitch Beal making his debut in net with Mark Robb now away for the remainder of the season. Silver had a new player in the line-up as well, Merrit Crumback who was traded earlier in the day for Deon Notarandrea to White Lightning. We will get a better look at how this trade will impact both teams as we get closer to the playoffs. Sam Goodfellow led his team with 2G 4A and Brandon Brown would chip in with 2G of his own. Bevan Wells would score 2G for Silver and Nick Delaronde pitched in a couple helpers with 2A.
Red Army 8 Teal Steel 7 - As the night continued on the heat would diminish somewhat or at least it felt that way. Although it could have just been all of us becoming immune to the crazy heat! This game was interesting as both teams would start with 1 sub each and by the time it was finished Red would have 4 subs and Teal would have 3. Every time you looked over at the bench a new player would appear from what seemed out of nowhere :) Anyway back to the game ... these two teams would play a close game with some big goals by both teams. As the 2nd half wound down Teal would find themselves up by one with 5 minutes to go in the game. With the top GAA in the league Aleks Prohaska would make some key saves keeping Red down by 1 goal. 1:39 left in the game and Brad Payette would tie the game on a nice pass from call-up Merrit Crumback. With the game tied and the possibility of a shootout we could only wait to see what would come next. At the 1:08 mark Captain Kevin Lee would get a pass down low in the Teal zone and some how find away to sneak one through the five hole for the game winner. Top players in the game were Kevin Lee, Brad Payette and Greg Hackborn each with a pair of goals. Teal would have strong games by both Mark Jennings (3G 2A) and Farzan Tashvighi with 4A.
Dont forget our Make-up Games are set to go for Tuesday July 7th at 7pm.
